Chosen answer: Scotty spent the best years of his career as the chief engineer of the flagship of the Federation: the Enterprise. His time has passed, however and the Federation is rumored to be planning on the Excelsior becoming the new flagship. It is a larger ship with a new, experimental warp drive. Scotty hates the Excelsior primarily due to his pride in the Enterprise but also because he is unimpressed by the design of the Excelsior. The trans-warp drive is easily sabotaged.

Question: All through the movie where the subtitles appear, the translation changes from scene to scene. In the movie "Oui" is sometimes translated as "Yes"; sometimes as "Oui". Same thing goes for other French words that switch translation with either the same French word or English. What's up with that?

CCARNI

Chosen answer: This is done as an inside joke. Oui is well known as yes, so no need for translation.

Question: At the beginning of the movie, when Lincoln wakes up, he removes something from his ID bracelet. What is this and what significance does it have?

Brad

Chosen answer: It appears to be some sort of cable - it can be seen leading to the bracelet in the shot from above the bed immediately prior to the one where Lincoln unplugs it. Exactly what it does is never revealed, but it seems likely to be some sort of monitoring system, keeping an eye on Lincoln's health through sensors in the bracelet.

Tailkinker

Chosen answer: The first is "Low" by Flo Rida and the last is "Get Back" by Ludacris. both songs are on the Tropic Thunder soundtrack.

Question: Marty prevents the bad 1985 by burning the sports almanac in 1955. However this alone won't prevent Old Biff from taking the almanac from 2015 to 1955. Indeed it raises the possibility that OB will remember having lost the almanac as a young man and choose to travel back to a date other than 12.11.55 to hand it over. I can think of three possible resolutions to this problem: (1) Marty makes a note of the date and time, then burns the almanac as a 47-year-old before Old Biff gets it; (2) Marty informs the 1950s Doc of what is to happen and he resolves to make the DeLorean more secure and/or not to throw the almanac in the bin; (3) Doc travels to 2015 in the steam locomotive and burns the almanac. Any other ideas?

Answer: I don't think it works like that. Old Biff came from a timeline that no longer exists, wiped out in favour of a timeline where his younger self becomes hugely rich because of the almanac, which is then ultimately replaced with a timeline where Marty wasn't involved in the car crash and he, and his children, are presumably more successful. In this new timeline, Marty and Doc would never have been to 2015 to try to sort out Marty's wayward children, Marty would never have bought the almanac, the old Biff of that timeline would never have learned about the time machine, and so would never have the idea of taking the discarded almanac back to his younger self, much less changing his date of arrival to try to prevent the theft. Doc and Marty have nothing to worry about.

Chosen answer: She thought she saw herself, which would have been impossible, if not for the Timeturner that Prof. McGonigall gave her. She saw a flash of the scene as it appears when she and Harry revisit that moment in time.

MovieFan612

I have watched it several times and cannot see any part of Hermione behind the tree. What part did she see?

As we see later in the film, Hermione #2 is looking around the tree and a twig snaps, causing Hermione #1 to quickly turn around and catch a glimpse of Hermione #2 before she gets her body behind the tree. By the time the camera is showing that portion of the forest Hermione #2 is fully behind the tree so we don't see anything at that time, which is on purpose since the audience isn't supposed to know the movie's later events yet.

jimba

But when Hermione #1 turns around, what part of Hermione #2 does she see?

We don't see her, she saw herself.

lionhead

But what part of herself did she see?

Most likely her bushy hair as that will stand out in the darkness of the forest.

Ssiscool

Is it possible to notice that if I watched that scene?

As Jimba said, by the time the camera gets there, she's behind the tree. Hence why I stated it's probably her hair as we simply don't know.

Question: In general, the colour of scrubs indicates job. So what do the people in yellow scrubs do?

Answer: Blue seems to be reserved for internal medicine doctors and green for surgeons. I've noticed the orderlies seem to wear maroon as well. Nurses seem to have more variety in scrub color, and usually it seems they are colors considered to be more feminine like purple and pink. The only character named I can think of to wear yellow scrubs was Nurse Birdie, the petite nurse used for the joke "a little birdy told me..."

Chosen answer: The charm is a male head with bullhorns. In an interview Jensen Ackles claimed that it was an Egyptian protective amulet; however, Egyptian deities are customarily portrayed as having animal heads on human bodies. The bull-man is a demon from Mesopotamian mythology, where he is a protective force against evil and appears as an attendant of the sun god (Samash). His body is human above the waist, and he also has the ears and horns of a bull.

Question: At the beginning of the film we're told that four people came back from the rescue mission, three wrote books and two had their books published. Later on we find out Four Leafs made the whole thing up. So how do the other three survivors fit into the whole thing, did they just make it up too? Or was the opening statement just meant as a joke all-together?

Answer: There were 3 other survivors. Only they presumably told the truth. Since Four Leafs made up his version, his more than likely seemed more entertaining. So his book was chosen to be made into a movie.

Carl Missouri

Question: When Borden's wife says she knows what is going on with him, does she really know? It seemed like she thought she knew, but was wrong. Was that clarified and I just missed something?

Bridgit9999

Chosen answer: She knew it. That's why she warns Borden of revealing who he really was to Olivia.

Answer: That quote from Olivia was not actually in the script and was improvised by the actress.

Question: Did Dooku have any personal reason for wanting to kill Padme, or did he just send Jango after her as a favor to Nute Gunray?

Answer: Gunray demanded that Amidala be targeted as part of his price to bring the Trade Federation, with its substantial military force, into the Seperatist movement.

Question: Bumblebee started talking at the end of first movie, so why doesn't he talk in this sequel?

Krusader004

Chosen answer: Sam says in the film that Bumblebee is milking it. Mikala asks if he is still having voice trouble so maybe he can only talk for a while before he can't talk again.

MasterOfAll

Chosen answer: He's still around, we've just not seen him lately, as scenes with Blake have been mainly at work, where Kevin wouldn't be.

Question: In the scene when Katherine is trying to figure out why the baby has been put on display. The shark suddenly dies and they are not able to save it. I never understood what caused the shark to die. Anybody out there know the answer to that?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: For some unknown reason, it has never been possible to keep a great white shark in captivity for a long period of time. They stop eating and swimming. The longest period was less than half a year and that was in 2007. At the time period of this movie, the record was 11 days.

Question: This confused me a little. At Stu's house, Randy answers the phone and hears about the principal's body being found hanging from a goal post on the football field. However, either Billy or Stu murdered the principal earlier in the day, so it seems that the other staff at school would have noticed that he was missing several hours ago. Billy and Stu are both at the party, so neither of them could have recently hung the body without someone finding it hours ago. Did one of the killers call and make up the story so that most of the kids would leave the house?

Answer: Billy came to the party late, presumably because he was hanging the body. The school seems pretty deserted when the principal gets killed (he goes into the corridor and only the cleaner is there, presumably cleaning after school is out) so it's reasonable to assume no one would have missed him yet.

Question: How does Slugworth know where to go and find all the kids that found the golden ticket? I've watched the movies a lot of times and I still don't get how he finds them all so fast.

Christie

Chosen answer: "Slugworth" is really an employee of Wonka's named Wilkinson. One can assume that part of this clever plan is that Wonka knows and controls what boxes the tickets are in, when they go out, and where they are going so it's not that difficult for Wilkinson to be on hand when the winning candy is opened.

Myridon

Question: Can anyone please explain to me the deal about Nigel not getting a job in Paris? He thought he got promoted then Miranda picked someone else or something and he says something like 'when the time is right, she'll pay me back'. I've seen this film loads of times but I've never fully understood what happened. Thanks.

Katie..x

Chosen answer: Miranda was going to be replaced by Jaqueline and forced to retire. Miranda worked a deal to give Nigel's new job to Jaqueline instead. Since Jaqueline now has a job she wants, there is no one eager or qualified to replace Miranda. Miranda keeps her job. Nigel doesn't get a new job and must remain with Miranda. Miranda gets what she wants, Jaqueline gets what she wants, Nigel gets screwed, but maintains the (most likely futile) hope that Miranda will pay him back by some other means in due course.

Myridon

Answer: Nigel was going to be James Holt's partner But Miranda made it so Jacqueline got or instead so Miranda could remain Editor in Chief at Runway.

Question: In the books Malfoy fixes the vanishing cabinet to allow death eaters through and there is a fight between them and the order. However in the film the fight is cut making the whole point of Malfoy fixing the cabinet irrelevant as the death eaters do not need to witness the death as proved by Malfoy's earlier attempts to kill Dumbledore. Considering this, why do they cut the fight, when it is such a vital part of the story line?

Answer: Because it's not actually vital at all. The Death Eaters are there to kill Dumbledore if Malfoy can't (as his previous attempts have been woefully unsuccessful) - that's their goal. The battle against the Aurors and the Order of the Phoenix is, for the most part, irrelevant to the overall storyline. It also allows them to avoid repetition, as the final book also finishes with a big battle through Hogwarts. If they kept the fight in, they'd have to make it look good, which would give them problems in depicting the final, much larger battle in the last film as expectations would be so much higher. By leaving it out and solely showing the main features of the storyline, namely Dumbledore's death at Snape's hands, it keeps the story focused and allows them to show the final battle in the last film without having already set a high mark that they'd then have to ensure that they exceeded.

Chosen answer: Max is not the children's uncle but a close family friend. He helps the Von Trapps to escape by stalling the announcement the winners of a music concert held at the end. Being the first-place winners, the Von Trapps are announced last, but they have already slipped away into the mountains.
