Question: What's the big deal about the place Chock Full O' Nuts in this movie? In both commentaries, they make a big deal about it, but never actually go into detail. (00:40:10)
Chosen answer: It's a chain of coffee shops in the New York area that were around decades before Starbucks. (Their initial business was roasted nuts before they switched to coffee and kept the name.) They would have been as common a sight to 80s New Yorkers as Starbucks is today to everyone.
Question: John puts a grenade on a fork lift and wheels it over to the bold, shirtless, muscular guy shooting at them. It explodes big and almost water like. What kind of bomb/grenade was that? (01:21:10)
Chosen answer: It was a normal hand grenade but they shot a few gas lines earlier in the shootout, which caused your mentioned "water-effect".
Question: Who is the guy suposed to be that Jack kills in the beginning at the night club? (00:04:50)
Answer: His name was Anton. He was an associate of Viktor Chagarin. Jack, although lying, said Yuri Komarov sends his regards. Chagarin and Komarov were former partners and Chagarin was the one who got Komarov put in jail. By Jack saying Komarov sent him, it made it seem like Komarov was out for revenge on Chagarin (by attacking his associates). The courts offered to reduce Jack's sentence for testifying against Komarov, which allowed Jack to get close to him and help him escape.
Answer: Just a nobody. Jack had to kill someone so that he would be arrested and that was his way of getting to the old guy (I forget his name). Additionally the guy in the nightclub was probably an enemy of the other Russian guy and it was a way of getting rid of him.
Question: Is John McClane ambidextrous? I noticed in several scenes, he'd alternate between using and holding his gun with his right and left hand.
Chosen answer: No. Bruce Willis (and thus, John McClane) is left handed. But guns are mostly designed for right handed people, so when he isn't holding a gun modified for him, it's easier to use it with his right hand.
Question: The guy who was sent back in time to run the loopers, Abe, is he the same person as Kid Blue but just his older future self?
Chosen answer: Writer/director Rian Johnson has stated that he didn't write the script with the intention of having Abe and Kid Blue be the older and younger versions of the same character, but that he likes the widespread fan theory that they are, acknowledging that the dynamic he wrote for the two characters very much lends itself to that interpretation. So that's an official "No, but it's a cool idea".
Question: Is there any reason why we never saw Data fall out of the water tubes? We saw everyone except him.
Question: If Grug is so scared of things in the outside world and considers anything new to be dangerous, then why does he keep Guy with him instead of getting rid of him?
Question: After Arturo, Wade and Quinn jump into the wormhole, what caused the wormhole to suddenly go outside and send Rembrandt into it?
Answer: Quin wasn't sure how large to make the wormhole to accommodate everyone. He made it too big, which resulted in Rembrandt to drive into it.
But what caused the wormhole to go outside? Why didn't it remain in the basement?
Question: When Christine wakes up from her faint/sleep and starts singing "I Remember", she walks over to where the Phantom is sitting and is gently touching his face as he enjoys the feeling of intimacy. Soon after that though, she suddenly takes off his mask (to his horror). Did she walk over to him planning to do that all along, pretending to be interested in getting closer to him just so she could see what was under the mask? She doesn't seem to me like such a premeditated type, but it also doesn't seem credible that she was interested in getting closer to him and decided that suddenly unmasking him was a way to get even closer to him.
Answer: She was planning to. She sang "who was that shape in the shadows, whose is the face in the mask"
Question: What is the significance of the birth mark that keeps jumping between characters as time goes by?
Chosen answer: Jim Broadbent's publisher character Cavendish has one but it is very easy to miss. It can be seen for a split second when he is about to get into bed as a young man with Ursula. The Comet is the subtle link, but each protagonist is more overtly linked by their actions or what they leave to history. Frobisher reading Adam Ewing's Novel. Luisa Rey reading Frobisher's letters and playing his Cloud Atlas Quartet. Cavendish reading a bound copy of Luisa Rey's Novel while on the train. Sonmi's fellow fabricant watching and being inspired by the movie that was made about Cavendish's adventure. All their actions culminate in the redemption of Tom Hanks in the final story.
Question: When Preston goes into Father's office to face off against Brandt and DuPont, he is surrounded by several guys in gray suits with swords. Just before Preston cuts them down with little effort, the one directly in front of him growls and Preston smirks. The guy that growls... who is he? I could swear I have seen him in a movie or something before, but I can't place where. I know I have seen his face before. Who is he and what has he played in?

Question: How was Hauser and Cohagen's plan supposed to work if Quad never went to Recall? Why are Cohagen's workers trying to stop him from going to Recall? His wife is constantly trying to talk him out of going to Mars and Recall, so how would Quad ever lead Cohagen to the mutant physic if he'd not gone?
Chosen answer: We're never told the details of their actual plan, but they indicate that his trip to Rekall activated him prematurely. The whole point of his new life was to give him a credible cover story. For it to work, they need him to stay there for enough time to make it believable under a background check. They could have intended to have him win a trip to mars from a lottery or something, but the point is that they simply weren't ready for him to up their timetable right then.
Question: In more than one scene, various officers are wearing some sort of necklace, apparently permissible additions to the uniform. They are of several different designs. What are they, and what do they represent?
Answer: They appear to be versions of a Hawaiian lei. During ceremonies and celebrations, it is permissible to wear pins, ribbons, and other items as a show of respect or support.
Question: When Billy is walking down the steps towards the door he escapes through, the prison guard throws him the keys for the door. What would Billy have done if the prison guard didn't throw him the keys? What was his plan, or did he even have one?
Chosen answer: Billy's plan was to bribe a guard to help him escape, using the money his girlfriend had smuggled to him. That plan failed, and he was almost raped by a sadistic guard. When Billy accidentally killed him, he used that as an unexpected opportunity to disguise himself in a guard uniform and walked out the front door. If he had been caught, he did not have an alternate plan and would have been severely punished, probably even executed.
Answer: Wasn't there a shelf near the door with keys on it?
Answer: He had a gun on him.
He also had most of the money in his shoe - he only offered one $100 bill to the guard and he hadn't undressed him yet.
Answer: In the book Billy escapes in a completely different way. If memory serves me he was on a work detail and escaped using heavy rain as a cover.
Question: Was it ever revealed where Mikayla's mother is? She was never seen on the show.
Answer: No. Although Mikayla and Mason occasionally referred to the mother, her whereabouts were never revealed.
Question: Is Gene a glitch?
Answer: No, he isn't. It's just the way he walks that makes you think that.
Question: Why do the Predators keep skulls as trophies? At the end of the film, we see a lot of skulls hanging up in the Predators' spaceship, most of them are not human skulls and one of them looks like a dinosaur's skull, is this to make us think that the Predators came to earth millions of years ago and killed a few dinosaurs, or is it to make us think that they're the skulls of huge creatures that they killed on their own planet?
Chosen answer: Why do some human hunters mount the heads of their kills on the walls of their house? To denote the kills that they've made, to commemorate a successful hunt. Same with the Predators. The skulls on the wall depict previous kills, one of which does indeed strongly resemble that of an Earth dinosaur. Whether this is intended to imply that the Predators have been around for so long that they hunted an actual dinosaur, or that it's supposed to be an alien species of a similar nature is unknown. Most likely the production designer simply thought it would look cool and didn't really give it any further thought.
Answer: At the end of Predator 2, the old Predator throws Danny Glover a 17th century French flint lock pistol. In Alien vs. Predator, scientists find an Aztec temple over a thousand years old.

Chosen answer: During a mission known as the "Leningrad Ruse." He and his flight squadron were sent unknowingly on a suicide mission. During it, his goggles cracked and let in a poisonous gas, paralyzing his iris. He has to wear the patch because his eye can't focus against bright light, causing pain. This is mentioned in the novelization.
