Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie when Sandra Bullock character is in the hospital and the nurse revealed to her that Carl Lee was innocent, look carefully at the TV. You can see Jake, Harry Rex and Lucent standing outside the courthouse, but in the very next scene they haven't even left the courtroom.

Carl Lee Hailey is found Not Guilty by reason of temporary insanity. Jake Brigance brings his wife and daughter to Carl Lee and his family's barbeque. He says to him, "I just thought our children would play together." which is one of the most important quotes in the whole movie, symbolizing equality between races.

Lucien Wilbanks: If you win this case, justice will prevail, and if you lose, justice will also prevail. Now that is a strange case.
Trivia: In the scene when Jake is sitting on the frame of his burnt house talking to Harry Rex, in one shot, the crotch of his pants has a large hole. He obviously has no underwear on, and you can see his "anatomy". Viewed on VHS.
Suggested correction: That hole is on the top of his inside leg.
Question: When Carl Lee Hailey visited Jake to tell him that he was thinking about killing those 2 men, wouldn't he have been required to report that to law enforcement? It's not considered attorney/client privilege when you tell your lawyer that you are planning to kill someone. And then he went home and told his wife about it, so wouldn't that also make her an accessory?
Answer: I'm not from America but couldn't you just say the conversation didn't take place? Maybe they didn't want to say anything due to being parents themselves and thinking they would do the same?
