The Reverend and George find a bunch of toxic waste barrels in the sewers and realize that C.H.U.D. stands for Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal. Bosch is almost killed by the evil guy from the Nuclear Energy Commission when Bosch confronts him about the plan to pump gas into the sewers. The Reverend kills the evil guy.
