The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947) plot summary
Newly widowed Mrs. Muir bought a ocean-side mansion that is hunted by it's former owner, Captain Gregg. They get used to each other, and even developp affection, when Mrs. Muir meets a LIVING man with whom she falls in love. Captain Gregg disapears to let her live her life freely, promising to return at the end of it.
